Saturday, January 28, 2006//

i remember the news yesterday.
manny pacquiao was given a grand welcome in manila.
and a concert was held in rajah sulayman.

well, our good president sang with him.
"para sa yo, noh, ang laban na to, noh".. (then took a glimpse in the copy of the lyrics of the song)
LOL! LOL! LOL! :D
"hindi ako susuko, NOH!"

painting day
//

not the artistic kind of painting.
instead, the "bara-bara" type of painting.
paint here, paint there.
"pa-dip ng paint"
"oh sure"

well, at first, all were glad and happy.
but in the afternoon, as usual, all became wasted.
wasted.
dumped.

i went with vinci's friends and drank ZAGU.
sagggooo.
then battled the traffic in coastal road.
up and away to home.

where's my tagboard? hell!
Friday, January 27, 2006//

oh well...
i'm not lucky in tagboards.

i only had anmath1 class for today.
no relsone.

well, tomorrow is C2 day.
OMG.

Let me greet ZION a Happy Birthday! :)

Wednesday, January 25, 2006//

oh well, looks like my feet became the most abused part of my body.
four events it had undergone.
but the most funny thing was with camille.
she pushed me and i accidentally stepped a foot of a lady.
"AAAAAAAWWWWWWW", said the lady.
with a big "A".
:):):)

i wonder why we watched the bands in william shaw little theater in relsone.
oh well, it's better than to have a class.

halleluiah!
a tiring day will soon be over.

cwts is really a bag of gravel and sand.
jesus.
though it feels good to see other people smile :)

srub here, scrub there.
wet the rag. then soak it again in a pail of water with lots of bubbles.
then scrub again.

it's really tiring.
and when i mean tiring, i mean it.
TIRING.
can i say that again one more time?
TIRING.
all of us went home wasted.
but with lots of good deeds, though.

the girl who made this poem pinched my little heart.
in a way that i became shocked. shocked.

SLOW DANCE
Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain
Slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.
Do you run through each day
On the fly?
When you ask How are you?
Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done
Do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
Running through your head?
You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.
Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste,
Not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
Cause you never had time
To call and say,"Hi"
You'd better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.
When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift....
Thrown away.
Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.

Sunday, January 15, 2006//

i just want to share something about the book i am reading.

"For isn't information technology an expression of wealth in our society just as copper is for Levi-Strauss's communities?"
"What we can gain from reading La Voie des masques goes beyond the mere discovery of a parallel between two logos belonging to information technology companies and two masks belonging to native American tribes."

semiotics is indeed a complex thing to study.

//

had lunch at the podium (master's wok).
i'll study for the quiz in anmath1 and relsone this week.
jesus bless me.

Reaction to Office Ergonomics Training: Conventional Wisdom vs. Current Ergonomics

I have chosen the topic about conventional wisdom versus current ergonomics. This is one issue that people, who are working at an office and even a plain student in school, should be aware of. They work most of the time in a steady position and usually in front of the computer doing work like simple encoding and research paper writing, so to speak. I became shocked when I was reading the whole article for some of the things mentioned reflected the erroneous ergonomics I have been doing and following a long time ago. At least now, I am duly aware of the proper ergonomics to be followed to avoid some repetitive stress injuries. As what the article had implied, slight movement rather than to stay in a freezing posture is required of modern ergonomics (http://office-ergo.com/conventi.htm, 2005).

According to the article, the monitor distance should be the farthest distance away from the eyes providing that the text can be clearly seen though the conventional way suggested that it should be 18-24 inches away (http://office-ergo.com/conventi.htm, 2005). Well, with this matter, I’ll try to sit farthest from the monitor as much as possible. With regards to the mouse that I tend to push away from me, I’ll try to use it as closer as I can. When I sit in front of the computer, I always try to maintain a 90 degree hip posture or an upright posture. Oh well, the article said it’s wrong! A 130 degree hip posture would make things right. I can’t promise I can do that. It was also suggested that the eye height must be highest a monitor should be. I do the other way around. My monitor is exactly the same level with that of my eyes. Oh well, enough of the improper ergonomics I follow. Now, I found some correct ergonomics that I do. Proper ergonomics about keyboard height, keyboard angle and wrist rests are some of those things. To wrap things up, the article taught me simple yet very important things about proper ergonomics. All must benefit from this because if we just work and work without knowing the hazards that work may give us, our health might suffer which is our only sword in the workplace battlefield. If ever researches and studies prove someday that some ergonomics commonly observed in the workplace are wrong, I hope that the right information dissemination will be done.

Favorites from Oprah's collection at home. "The Grapes of Wrath…Steinbeck. Anything Steinbeck. All of Toni Morrison—The Bluest Eye and Sula are all-time favorites. The Power of Now. Of course, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya. White Oleander by Janet Fitch…" — Oprah

ok, can someone give me those books?

//

i remember someone. when i was on my way to dlsu ( of course, through a bus!), there was this boy who gave away a little piece of paper. it was stated there that he supports his studies himself. he's taking up a course related to music. to support his studies, he's selling pastillas and other food stuffs. 12 pesos per pack and 30 pesos for every 3 packs. i was very selfish. i did not help him. i did not buy any single pack of his products. i'm so selfish. now, i feel so guilty.

Ratava

I have chosen the name “ratava” simply because it denotes the reversed word for avatar. An avatar, according to Wikipedia, implies a deliberate descent into mortal realms for special purposes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/avatar, 2005). On the other hand, the web definition of an avatar is simply a graphical image of a user intended to make the computing or network environment a friendlier place (http://www.acad.bg/beginner/gnrt/appendix/glossary.html).

In my work, I tried to paint my avatar that suits the definition of both mentioned sources. I created this avatar with a special purpose. The concept, colors and as well as the design depict something abstract in me. At the same time, I put a part of my face to notice right away that “hey, it’s jun!”.

There are three parts of my face in the avatar, a small part, a medium part and a big part respectively. This symbolizes that different people look at me differently. Some only get to see a bigger part of me while leaving others just seeing a glance of who I am.

The red spots symbolize the path I take in life. I can start at any point and eventually leap to another until I connect all the dots and find my way back home.

By the way, the shades I wear means that if the right amount of light strikes it, you can definitely see my eye. For I believe that the eyes convey the strongest feelings of a person.
